Everything you need to know about battery regulations
Since 1999, Batribox has been helping its members to manage and recycle used portable batteries and accumulators, with the aim of reducing the environmental impact of these essential but potentially dangerous products.
A pioneer among European EPR schemes, this activity is in line with the AGEC law and the new European regulation due in 2023, reinforcing requirements in terms of transparency, traceability and the circular economy.
French regulations: a structuring framework for the industry
In France, the management of portable batteries and accumulators (PABs) is governed by Decree 2009-1139 and is part of the AGEC law. This legislation imposes restrictions on the substances incorporated into batteries, as well as strict obligations in terms of transparency and eco-design.
Since 2023, they must provide technical data sheets, accessible via a QR code, informing consumers about recyclability, recycled materials and the presence of hazardous substances.
These rules aim to reduce the environmental impact of these products while supporting a circular economy. Batribox, operating under a renewable license, is committed to complying with these requirements to improve collection and recycling.
