Industrial batteries

Logistics, telecommunications, energy, aeronautics... Industrial batteries are essential in many sectors. Optimizing their recycling is a key issue: they contain strategic materials to be recycled and substances that can have an impact on the environment. Batribox helps manufacturers to responsibly manage the end-of-life of these specific batteries.

How do you recycle your industrial batteries?

Batribox offers a take-back service for industrial batteries on request, guaranteeing secure collection. Three criteria to be met:

  • Technologies concerned: Nickel-Cadmium (NiCd), Lithium-ion (Li-ion), Zinc-Air, Lead, Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH).
  • Flat-rate amount below 350 kg. If this criterion is not met, Batribox will charge a minimum fee for processing and logistics.

Batribox takes back LFP batteries on a case-by-case basis. Batteries from light means of transport (small mobility) are excluded from this service. They are handled by the voluntary e-mobility channel.

What are industrial batteries?

At present, industrial batteries are any cells or accumulators used exclusively for industrial or professional purposes, or in any type of electric vehicle.

These batteries can be used in a wide variety of applications:

  • Industrial equipment (PLCs, back-up systems, energy storage)
  • Material handling equipment (forklift trucks, electric pallet trucks)
  • Energy storage systems (stationary batteries, inverters)
  • Telecommunications and networks

The diversity of their formats and compositions means that they need to be handled with care, both in terms of collection and processing.

At Batribox, we consider as industrial all batteries weighing over 5 kg and used exclusively for industrial purposes, with the exception of small mobility batteries, for which we have created a dedicated voluntary channel.

From August 2025, new European regulations will split the current "Industrial PA" category into 3 typologies:

  • Industrial batteries and accumulators over 5 kg
  • Light means of transport (LTM) batteries
  • Electric vehicle (EV) batteries over 25 kg.

In addition to the portable and light means of transport sectors, Batribox is now positioning itself, through its "industrial" service, in the categories of batteries not covered by government approval: industrial, SLI and electric vehicles.
